blue and gansey going through olympic level yearning and doing normal shit like going to a semi normal toga party together and adam and ronan are experiencing sudden religious devotion toward one another and framing their teacher for murder and fighting actual demons in the sentient dream forest

hey did you know that depending on where you began the story, it was about Noah Czerny?

the “glendower was dead, had always been dead, and gansey kind of wanted to live” line has such a double meaning because on one hand we learn that the glendower who whispered to gansey was noah all along so the line is actually talking about noah, not glendower. but also gansey was going to wish noah back to life despite knowing that gansey himself was going to die in the next year. and then in the end noah gives up his life and afterlife so that gansey can live. noah was dead, had always been dead, but at least he made it so that gansey could live

Okay but like. The concept of Chainsaw is actually so insanely perfect for Ronan?? Like this boy is spiraling when she shows up. He’s fighting his brother in parking lots, drinking himself into oblivion, scaring his friends into thinking they’ll find him dead. Gansey is hovering, Adam is sneaking out of the trailer park as soon as Gansey says he’s missing (which we can get into how Ronan is worth the risk of sneaking past his dad later because WOOF hello), Noah is the one who’s seen the aftermath before, whose found him in pools of blood. Ronan’s whole deal at that point is destruction + self destruction.

And then. He pulls a bird out of his dreams. But not just a bird. Like not some big impressive hunting bird to flex about. She’s a BABY. She’s small and fragile and loud and she requires everything from him. He has to feed her constantly, keep her warm, make sure she survives. She’s dependent on him in a way nothing else in his life is right then.

And suddenly Ronan, whose favorite hobby up until now has been running himself into the ground, has to stay alive and functional because Chainsaw needs him. Like. He dreams her into existence and in turn she forces him to exist, to keep going. They’re both these messy, half-wild things that wouldn’t survive without each other and it’s just. God. GOD.

Anyway I’m never getting over the fact that Ronan Lynch survived because he accidentally dreamt himself a baby bird to take care of. 😭😭

(adam talking about gansey) “he was the boy with the most beautifully interesting car, and the most savagely handsome of friends: ronan lynch”. this is the Gayest quote in the dream thieves and the dream thieves is The Gayest book Ever.

sometimes i randomly remember how insane maggie stiefvater was for making ronan lynch—a man that can create reality—a man of god, when he himself is a god of a man. then to take this man and have him be not only in love with, but a literal soulmate of a man named adam. parrish. adam parrish. who, mind you, lives above ronan’s very own place of worship. and is the namesake of the first of mankind that the bible says god made from the literal dust of the ground (adam parrish: comes from nothing, hair “dusty” in color) and appoints him to care for the garden of eden (adam parrish: sacrifices himself to ronan’s sentient forest). then has adam viewing ronan as a god and ronan saying “maybe he dreamt (created)” adam???? like who just fucking writes that and goes about their life?

"The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you!"
